In order frome newest to oldest.
- MG- What a reputation? He stopped at a gas station and filled up his tank. A young woman approached him and complimented his car. He thanked her and offered her a ride. She accepted and got in. He introduced himself as Tom and she said her name was Lisa. They drove off, chatting and laughing. He felt a connection with her, something he hadn’t felt in a long time.
- let’s talk Brake FluidBrake fluid absorbs moisture over time. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it can absorb moisture from the air over time. This moisture can cause the brake fluid to become contaminated and reduce its boiling point. When the boiling point of brake fluid is reduced, it can cause the brake pedal to feel spongy, decrease the effectiveness of the brakes, and increase the stopping distance. Changing your brake fluid every 2-3 years can help prevent moisture buildup and ensure that your brakes are working properly. Also, since it is a slow process, it is hard for the driver/rider to pick-up on any change of brake performance since it degrades gradually.
- Vespa Begining – MGB EndingIf you are looking for a fun and stylish way to get around town, you might be interested in comparing two classic vehicles: the Vespa GTV 300 and the MGB. Both of them have a long history and a loyal fan base, but they also have some significant differences. Here are some of the main aspects to consider when choosing between these two icons.
- Thoughts about owning an MGThe road is your playground. MG owners don’t just drive, they play. They enjoy every twist and turn, every bump and hill.
- Off to Nova Scotia (back home again)Michelle is looking forward to driving her and they have named her “Ruby”. They have joined the local MG Club and have friends with MGs and Triumphs. Mark has connections with garages there, so I am confident she is in great hands. Congratulations Mark and Michelle!
- Bye Bye
- One last adventureSo out she comes from her winter slumber to be put on a flat bed and brought to the Sports Car Factory for a quick cleaning of the ignition switch and an oil change. Then back home to be picked up by her new owner from Nova Scotia.
- Montreal MG Car ClubIf you live near Montreal and own an MG or want to own an MG, consider joining the Montreal MG Car Club.
- MGB Abarth Exhaust – The UnboxingHere we are, January 2nd, 2023. Happy New Year!
- MG Christmas
- December 9th, 2022 – MGB comes out to PLAY!
- MG Main Dealers, (right). Now what?Unfortunately, the new thrush washers did not eliminate the small play or clunk I have in the differential. When looking at the manual, it says the following. Any thoughts of what to do next since the last know British Leyland Dealer closed years ago and the local differential “experts” don’t want to touch it.
- My Winter MG BluesWhile driving those last days, I started thinking about how much I will miss her this winter. I figure that if I can wrench on the MGB, I can also write a poem about her. So, this is my poem, titled, My Winter MG Blues:
- Last drive? Join me…Is today my last drive? I’m hoping not, but just in case, here is my video about it. Plus I talk about my next repair, ignition switch.
- Another ride MMGCC and a follow-up on the Vinyl repairFor those of you who don’t drive an MGB, that means no glaring high beams coming up from behind you and blinding you from the rear view and side view mirrors, because we are so low. So, my trip home was cruising the 417 with all my high beams on full plus the additional lights at 75 Miles/Hour all the way listening to music such as “Son of a Preacher Man”, “Stairway to Heaven” a many other oldies.
- Buying an MGB – Take TwoIf you are looking for an MGB to restore, this video is not for you, skip it, lol. If you love the looks of an MGB and want to get one no matter how it drives and live with knowing it is in need of many repairs, this video is also not for you. But if you want to really experience the pleasure and excitement of driving an MGB all season, have an MGB that looks and feels good inside and out, then this video is for you, and you should watch it to fully understand the costs of ownership and your options to achieve this goal.
- MGB Drive in November and Shout Outs!Today’s ride was awesome, and my video discusses what is totally right about my MGB and why. None of which could have happened without Steve Mcilquham from The Sports Car Factory in Hallville, Ontario and the YouTube Channels: David Russell-Wilks – D3Sshooter – John Twist – University Motors.
- Montreal MG Car Club’s Late October Picture Taking/Barbeque DayWe were lucky since the Smoking Bull was almost empty and we had the main dining room all to ourselves. It was a southern cooking affair including southern jazz background music. After lunch we headed down for one last group picture before we all headed home in opposite directions.
- Relief plus a NEW MGB in townAlthough this guide stopped the belts from getting twisted or tangled, it just was not high enough to remove the continuous tension form my shoulder. Yesterday I received a simple product from Amazon that eliminated this issue completely.
- Montreal MG Car Club – Drive to HemmingfordOf course, when in Quebec, order Smoked Meat or Poutine. I went with the Smoked Meat.
- Putting down the MGB Soft top (Boot)I have settled on this technique because it keeps the soft top up and out of the way from the carpet over the batteries and does not interfere with my seat belts. It gives me much more interior space.
- Caption This“An MG adds some spark to your life”
- Jaguar MK II – Ken Law – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowThis car lives up to that standard. Repainted in a beautiful British Racing Green with matching leather interior. - Alfa Romeo 147 GTA – Jean-Philippe Gauvreau – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowThis car reminds me of my Fiat 500 Abarth on steroids. What a lovely car to have for weekend get aways. That is exactly how Jean-Philippe enjoys his Alfa Romeo 147 GTA.
- MGB Windscreen (blocker) & Seat Belt Guides (solution)my stereo volume setting prior to the windscreen on the highway was 27 to 30 and now it is 17 to 20. Quite a difference. If you have a roll bar installed, then this is a simple project.
- Bricklin 1975 SV1 – Syd Williams – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowA Bricklin. Who wouldn’t want such a car. It’s an eye catcher. The doors open like a futuristic spaceship. The color of Syd’s Bricklin is beautiful, and the condition is excellent.
- Abarth Exhaust (ANSA)So, I have put my name in and reserved an Abarth system. It comes complete. I have ordered it from Abarth Exhausts, and it seems like it has the perfect hangers for the MGB and after some research, it installs without an issue. Click on the picture below for more info.
- TR-8 – David Huddleson – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowI enjoyed my TR-7 and often wondered how it would drive with an eight cylinder. It must be awesome to drive since David has kept his around for twelve years.
- Just a Drive… The Love of an MGBBut it was a cool sunny autumn day. My wife and I decided to take down the covers on the gazebos, re-arrange the shed for winter and pack away all the stuff outside that needs to be protected from old man winter. That took a few hours and then my wife left to visit with Storm, her horse.
- Annoying MGB SeatbeltsToday I may have a solution to the annoying seatbelts in the later model MGBs. I also have some American contraband in my garage.
- SU Carburetors – Send them out or rebuild them yourself?SU carburetors have been popular since the end of World War II. Although they were used widely before the war, the increased production required by the conflict made their products less expensive and more suitable to postwar automobiles. So today the SU carb can be found on MG, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Alvis, and many other makes from the late 1940’s all the way to the 1980’s-literally millions of them. And like any other device or component, they age and wear out in service.
- Land Rover Series 1, 88 Basic – Grant van Leyen – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowApparently, it is rough ride, but always gets you there. Grant tells us about his Land Rover that he has owned since 2011.
- Triumph TR4 – Terry Ledden – Merrickville European Classic Car Show 2022The Triumph TR4 is a sports car produced by the Triumph Motor Company from 1961 to 1965. As the successor to the TR3A, the car was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the previous TR sports cars, but with a modern body designed by Michelotti.
- Westfield SE Pre-Litigation – Pete Agnew – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowLotus? Not! It’s a Pre-Litigation Westfield SE. Pete has owned this car since 2018 and drives it to most of the local shows.
- Jaguar E-Type 2+2 – David Kenny – Merrickville European Classic Car Show 2022David Kenny was an aerospace engineer and upon his retirement, he purchased such a car and restored it to a beautiful daily runner. I cannot say that I am not jealous, because I really am! In my opinion, this was the most beautiful car at the show.
- MGB Brakes – Part 3 Installation of EBC Pads and Rotors, Rebuilt Calipers and Dust CoverI had a few issues during this install of the EBC brakes and rebuilt calipers. The biggest issue is that the company who rebuilt my calipers put in the wrong size seals, and they leaked. Like everywhere! So here I was on a Thursday morning with new brakes but leaky calipers. I could not go anywhere, even if I had a special place to be.
- EBC Brakes – MGBI must say that these are the BEST brakes ever for an MGB! They’re biting power far exceeds anything I have ever put on the MGB. The bad news, which is not really that bad, is their Black Geomet and Nitrotherm anti-corrosive finish on the rotors in the area where the pads touch. Simply said, I’m not a fan of this. Here is why…
- OMGC – Fall Colour Run 2022The run took us though some lovely countryside, farms, lakes, rivers and of course, coloured leaves. Upon arriving at the host’s home (Jordan and Sarah), the cars lined up proudly for photo shoots and such. It was an impressive show of these wonderful Tiny British Sports Cars.
- Serpentine Run – Montreal MG Car ClubI also went on the Ottawa Leaf run on Sunday with the Ottawa MG Club (which was also lovely), but if I had to choose between one or the other, it would be the Serpentine Run, hands down!
- MGB Brake Squeal Inspection – Part 2 of 3So today I will disassemble my brakes and inspect and measure every part to determine the cause. I also have a rebuilt Lockheed caliper that I intend to install as a comparison to the new Moss caliper.
- MGC-GT – Mike Price – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowMike explains the differences between the MGB-GT and the MGC-GT.
- 1953 Volvo 444 – Peter Robbinson – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowThe gages are in Swedish, the turn signals look like police lights and the owner has the most amazing stories to tell. In fact, he tells us a funny story about an MGB GT at the end, which was proper for my MGDriving blog.
- MGB Brake Squeal – AGAIN! (Part 1 of 3)Some friends say “forget about it” and that they had stopped chasing brake squeal years ago. I can’t do that. I have an raging flaming need to solve this brake squeal.
- Delorean DMC-12 1981 – Michael Beach -Merrickville European Classic Car ShowIt is a unique car with its rear-mounted engine and gull-wing doors. It is recognizable by everyone, I am certain.

- Merrickville European Classic Car Show 2022 – Live Stream Walk AroundAlthough the quality of this video is not like my usual 4K videos, it was a Facebook Live Stream walk around at 11:00 AM. Many cars arrived after this walk around. However, it does provide an overview of the show.
- Marcos Mantula Spyder V8 – Randy Snow – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowI remember back in the day when I drove Austin Minis, there were magazine ads for Marcos Mini Kits and such. They developed into a company offering some serious sports cars, one being the Mantula Spyder with the Rover V8.
- Quandt Amphicar 770 – Steve Ewing – Merrickville European Classic Car ShowThis was the most unusual car at the show and having the opportunity to take a drive in it was an incredible experience. Somehow it is just not right to drive your car straight into the water unless you own the Amphicar 770. From car to boat and back to car again.

- MGB Vinyl Top RepairI did the quick fix, Gorilla Tape. Also, the strap that snaps over the frame on the passenger side, came apart. So today I am going to do the proper fix.
- Examining my Pistons using a Depstech Inspection CameraBut beware, you may not like what you see inside your engine. Thats what happened to me. So, I made a video on how to use the Depstech Inspection Camera and used it to examine my cylinder Number 2.
- MGB – Painting the calipersThe job is straightforward and after finishing, I had my eyes on the Volt and Impreza in the driveway. They too could use a caliper painting job. I created a video but below are links to the products and service I used:

- I am honored to own such a SPECIAL MGBJim’s “B” was a late model “B” (a rubber bumper model but converted to chrome bumpers) and the seat belt arrangement was significantly different. The policeman had a hard time understanding why the seat belts in the two vehicles were so different if they both looked like the same year and model.
- Ottawa All British Car Day – July 16, 2022Close to 100 beautiful cars of British heritage were registered by owners from as far away as Arnprior, Yarker (if you’ve never heard of it, it’s about 35Km north west of Kingston), Kingston, Morrisburg, Chesterville, Limoges, Montreal, Gatineau, and all places in between.
- Boot’n Bonnet All British Car DayThere was a wide variety of British cars to look at and my personal favorite was the old Rolls Royce with the rumble seat. Such beautiful craftmanship!
- Hudson Auto Show – Montreal MG Car ClubLeave it to the British MG Club to have taken over the parking lot of a micro brewery!!
- MGB Brake SquealToday I will share with you what I know, what I did and what I do not know about brake squeal. First, I want to say that I have now driven 1,500 Miles (2,400 Kilometers) without out even one squeal from my front brakes (as I am pounding on my wooden desk lol).
- Dipstick – A Well Earned TitleThe great news is that Chantal, my wife, fell in love with that horse and left a deposit. The not so good news is that I officially earned the title of DIPSTICK.
- MGB Center Console – Elbow PainA gentleman from the United States named Michael Ruckman has done something GREAT to help with this elbow pain.
- Drive her like you stole her….As I drove away, I started thinking about all the work I have done and how much I have learned. I am now prepared to handle mostly all issues on the road. I was very proud of myself that I was able to find and fix the issue, even though it was just a wire that had come undone.
- Let’s Keep Her Cool – Revotec FanBefore installing the top hose, I had to cut a ¾” section out of the straight part coming from the thermostat. This would allow the insertion of the Revotec thermostat in between the cut top hose as shown below.
- A Lazy Sunday Afternoon – MGB, Right?Sunday with my MGB
- MGB Brake Squeal – SolvedI found an old diagram about MG calipers and pistons and realized that the new calipers from Moss have the pistons installed in the calipers incorrectly.

- A Long Time Coming – Garage HeaterIt was over six years ago that I completed my garage with insulation, paint, posters, paintings and filled it with toys. Every year when winter came, I hardly spent any time in the garage other than to take out the snow blower. Each year we talked about a garage heater. Each year we had …

- Ottawa MG Club Orders? The shipping does not increase so much if I add more items. Therefore, I thought maybe other club members may want some patches to sew on jackets or such and perhaps a pin or grill badge.
- Removing two SU Carburetors from MGBThese two carburetors are off the Island Automation for a full re-build and I am anxious to hear their comments andany issues that they find during the rebuild process. So, below is my video on how to remove the SU Carburetors form an MGB. Fun!
- Tonneau Panel RepairShe had a look at the damage and in two days and for a cost of $ 60.00 my Tonneau Panel was as good as new
- Shut Off Switch and Battery Tender InstallationNow, I suspect I will not need to open that compartment for years to come.
- MGB Starter Falling Off, Cooling and Fluids, but still ridingI tapped the starter and solenoid and the car started, it still turned slowly, but my excellent tuning skills (lol) paid off because she started with one crank at 5 degrees Celsius outside.
- Goodbye PorthosI will always remember Porthos with one word, Gratitude!
- Starting with a Penny, Ending with a Pound…So, my $ 8.50 195-degree thermostat and $ 0.54 gasket will now cost upwards of $ 160.00 for the new anti-freeze and the garage fees that include a flush, change thermostat and replace the fluid. The saying “In for a Penny, In for a Pound” consistently applies to this MGB.
- I Love Her, I Love Her Not… MGBLike with every love affair, there are fleeting affairs (one-night stands), short affairs that break-up within a year or two, longer affairs that often don’t make it through the seven-year line and finally, the true love affair that lasts a lifetime.
- TR-3 A – The Car gets the Girl…As I drove by, I stopped. She heard the exhaust or smelled the gas. She turned and smiled, and my response was, “I have an empty seat that seems more comfortable, interested?”.
- Pearson Street – Food TruckNope, no way! When you take your first bite you will understand, its a heart stopping moment. Personally, I am a HUGE fan of their Double Smash Burger with Bacon and Sautéed Mushrooms.

- MGB – Photo CompetitionThe Ottawa MGB Club has a photo competition for a 2022 calendar and for some website photos. I am hoping to get one of my photos voted as a winner. There are multiple themes for the photos.
- Replacing MGB Front Lever Shocks – What they don’t tell you…Others said get a bigger hammer. I tried that to no avail. In fact, I tried tapping, smacking, hammering to the point of exhaustion. I sprayed it with penetrating oil, WD-40 and let it sit over night.
- MGB Defrost – Simple Repair, eh?Remove a few screws to release the under cover and then reach up under the dash and reconnect the hose. Sounded simple to me?
- MGB Lever Shocks – Rear Oil ChangeIn order to get ready I decided to change the oil in the old lever shocks that I had purchased.
- My FIRST win with the MGBOne final note. UPS has closed the investigation on the lost box with my two Minilite wheels and sent the report to Moss Motors. Their report says that they have confirmed delivery even though their current tracking shows the last know location as Concord. Moss is disputing their claim. When and if I receive the two wheels, lug nuts, and MGB logos is up in the air? This must be one of those lessons on patience and perseverance, right?
- Paul Williams Memorial Drive – August 7, 2021Back to my engine problems. At first, I thought it may be a fuel problem…
- UPS – Taking Frustration to a NEW LevelTo bring the Frustration to a NEW level is quite simple. Due to COVID, Moss Motors does not have any more wheels to sell. They are all back ordered!
- Week One – UPS Heart Attack!I almost had a heart attack as I started to do the math in my head ((2 x 332)/1.050=63%)
- The Adventure BeginsWhat would you suggest? Lowered 1980 with Minilite 14″ x 5.5 – Preferred Tire size is 185R70 14?

- R1200R Oil Change UpdateLast oil change video was almost perfect (in my humble opinion) except for the oil spilling onto the chrome exhaust pipe when I removed the oil filter.
