The weather was 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) and we had two choices, canoeing or riding?

Well we thought about doing both but we decided on a lovely ride up to Merrickville, a little lock town on the Rideau River known for a few quaint shops and dining.

Ironically we ate at a little place named the “Yellow Canoe” which was named after an old canoe builder in the area who built yellow light cedar canoes, just like the one I just acquired. If ever your in town, this is a place to stop and have a light lunch, perhaps one of their home made scones, their Ploughman’s Lunch or an Italian frittata.

Afterwards we walked around the lock down by the water to plan our next visit with our canoe.

The ride was uneventful yet as pleasant as always.
