The sun was out and it was yet another beautiful day without rain Last year we had rain every day which is why we invested in KLIM Gor-Tex outfits for this year’s vacation. As it turns out, it is suppose to be sunny and warm every day for the next week. This vacation will go down in history for the best weather ever.
Today we went to visit the Norman Hardie Winery and had a wonderful lunch there. This is a family run winery and the owner has a taste for quality and hospitality in his wines and foods. They make pizzas in a wood oven and offer amazing salads with thinly sliced prosciutto.
We passed through many small towns and through small back roads of Picton. It is a lovely place for riding and also for bicycling. If you have never spent time discovering the Prince Edward County other than stopping at Sandbanks, you should consider coming back. Little towns like Marysburg, Wellington, Hiller, Bloomfield and South Bay are full of off-the-track roads that will most certainly bring a smile to your face as you ride them.
Later that evening we were lucky to get a reservation at the Merrill Inn In Picton. As you can see in the pictures, it is a lovely Victorian building and it seemed like the front parking was reserved for BMWs. We were greeted by the owner and sat at a lovely table outside since the weather was just perfect. No bugs or anything annoying. The food presentation and taste was excellent. Chantal had Rabbit Ragout while I had their breast of duck.
All in all, it was a great day. We leave tomorrow to Colborne to visit family then we are off to Irwin Inn up near Lakefield.
Finally some riding video. I had forgotten the cable for the VIRB and just found one on the way home from dinner at a dollar store. However it was $ 9.00 and not a dollar.
